6th ECSA Conference – Oulu, Finland | March 2026
The European Citizen Science Association (ECSA) will hold its 6th conference in Oulu, Finland from 3-6 March 2026. ECSA2026 will be hosted by the University of Oulu during the year that Oulu is crowned one of the European Capitals of Culture.
Besides the scientific programme, the conference will be accompanied by a pre-conference day dedicated to the ECSA working group meetings (2 March) and a day for excursions (7 March).
The ECSA2026 conference is framed around the notion of Citizen Science bridging Centre and Periphery. This theme explores the diversity of contexts in which citizen science unfolds — from urban metropolitan hubs to remote northern and southern spaces — and emphasises its role as a link between centre and periphery.
The second stage of the call for proposals is now open and participants may submit their papers to the already approved panels, workshops and roundtables until 7 October 2025. A possibility to contribute in other ways is also possible by submitting a poster or a showcase pitch.
